Gecko

Data Deletion

Gecko stores your data in two places: locally on your device, and on our servers (for the automated/background and scheduling features described in the Privacy Policy). This page covers both.

Disconnect a single account

Open Gecko → Settings → find the platform (YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, or TikTok) → click Disconnect. This:

Disconnecting doesn't automatically delete that platform's stored Channel Report or content-anomaly history. Those are separate, deliberate actions: delete a Channel Report from Settings' Channel Report card, and delete individual content-anomaly records from the Analytics Dashboard's Content Anomaly panel. This keeps a disconnect (which you might do to temporarily pause a platform) distinct from actually discarding the analysis you've built up.

We try to reach our servers when you disconnect, but this doesn't block or fail the local disconnect if we can't (for example, if you're offline). If you were offline, reconnecting later will re-sync the disconnected state to our servers.

Remove all local app data

Uninstalling Gecko removes its entire local data folder, deleting everything the app had stored on your device (every connected account, every cached metric, every setting). If you'd like to remove the data folder without uninstalling, it's located at:

Windows

%APPDATA%\Gecko

macOS

~/Library/Application Support/Gecko

Linux

~/.config/Gecko

Request full server-side deletion

Uninstalling the app removes what's stored locally, but doesn't automatically remove your server-side data (report history, credentials, scheduled-post records) if you skip the per-platform Disconnect step above. To request complete erasure of everything associated with your install from our servers, email support@horrac.com with the request. We'll confirm your identity as needed and complete the deletion without undue delay and within one calendar month of your request, as required under UK GDPR. In practice, it's usually much sooner. If a request is unusually complex, we may need up to two further months; we'd tell you if that applied and why.

Revoking access from the platform's side

You can also revoke Gecko's access directly from each platform, which invalidates the token even if you don't use the app's own Disconnect button. This stops Gecko from using the connection, but doesn't itself trigger deletion of what Gecko already stored. Use Disconnect above, or the full-deletion request, for that.
